From Water to Beer: Our Smart Flowmeters at the Brno International Fair 2024

Innovation isn’t always hidden in labs or utility shafts, sometimes it pours straight from a beer tap. At the Brno International Engineering Fair 2024, our ultrasonic flowmeters, developed by spinnoff company from CTU CIIRC, became the centerpiece of one of the most talked-about exhibits: a mobile robotic bar serving beer.

And yes, even President Petr Pavel stopped by to see the system in action.

A Robotic Bar With a Smart Core

The CTU CIIRC exhibition at the Brno Fair was designed to showcase how robotics, digitalization, and Industry 4.0 are shaping the future. But instead of a static machine, visitors were greeted by something far more inviting: a mobile robotic bar capable of pouring the perfect beer.

Behind the scenes, every pour was precisely measured by our battery-powered ultrasonic flowmeters. Originally engineered to monitor hot and cold water in households, the devices proved just as capable of handling another essential Czech liquid, beer.

By capturing flow in real time and transmitting it over NB-IoT connectivity, the system ensured every glass was poured with accuracy, no waste, no guesswork, just perfect data.

A Presidential Toast to Innovation

Among the hundreds of visitors to the stand, one special guest drew the cameras: Czech President Petr Pavel. He watched the robotic arm pour a cold beer, smiled, and raised a glass to the future of Czech engineering.

For us, this was more than a photo opportunity. It was proof that even serious engineering innovation can engage the public, spark conversations, and show how advanced technologies from CTU CIIRC and it spinnoff are already shaping the everyday.
